Thanks to all the skiers and riders who made their way up to Sierra Summit this past weekend. Though the 11 feet of snow this past week created some of the best skiing and riding conditions it came with many challenges. Saturday some of the parking was still buried deep in snow and the large turnout of skiers forced some to be turned away. On Sunday, while Southern California Edison was doing all they could to get power restored to most of the mountain areas, Sierra Summit relied soley on the resort generators to run the area. On Sunday, the large turnout of guests, coupled with generator limitations caused guests to experience reduced lift availability and other service interuptions. The week ahead looks much brighter for our guests. The power has been restored as of Sunday evening, all the parking lots have been cleared. The storms expected this week will bring some additional snow, but in much more manageable amounts. Thanks again to all our employees who worked very hard to bring what services we could to the area and our guest for enduring the short comings.
We have clear skies in the forecast today and the snow conditions right now are as good as it gets. The entire mountain is open and you can ski and ride runs you haven’t been on in a long time. With all this new snow, we plan to begin grooming runs such as Waterfall Bowl and the Face. If you haven’t seen all this new snow, you’ve got to see it to belive it!
